If not, you missed a good time, great weather and a horde of interesting and informative offerings on the fairgrounds at the Expo center.
The 36th Annual Mid-America Trucking Show MARCH 22-24, 2007
This is the undisputed grand-daddy of all trucking shows and in spite of the on-going construction in the Exposition /Fair Grounds area, it was another great year for the event. Vendors of all kinds, truck manufacturers, components and accessories, computers and software, technology advances and information galore...if your feet could stand it, it was there. Anti-idle auxiliary power units were a hot ticket this year as new legislation pushes truck owners towards compliance and efficiency. If you missed MATS this year, you missed the latest information on engines and the 2007 emissions requirements as well as educational discussions on the new ultra low sulphur diesel "USLD", additives and how this will affect your operation in the coming year. At every turn were displays manned with eager reps to answer all questions about their products. This year, it was a global representation of manufacturers as I noticed many new firms bringing some very interesting products and driveline components to the floor in Louisville.

The trucks prepared for show was a favorite hang out of mine. There are definite "trends" in the custom world whether it be motorcycles, hot rods, big rigs or ??? Those trends were evident at Louisville this year. How low can you go? The ground is the bottom, right? Well...not necessarily. Innovative customizers like Jeff at 12 Gauge Customs have developed air-powered positionable front bumpers when in conjunction with a "bagged" front axle, will allow the truck to be slammed even lower. Flip the switch and flip the bumper! Ground effects and aerodynamic enhancements were all over the place as well. Extended grilles and deep, deep front ends made for some really cool big trucks at MATS this year.
In spite of the construction at the venue, it was another great gathering for all those attended.
